Quick getaway

Whether you want to relax, soak up some culture, or discover the surroundings, Ann at B&B The Protea welcome you with open arms.

You're staying at a place steeped in history. In this building, Alain’s father and grandfather used to make machines for the tobacco industry. Today, cutters and lathes have been replaced by four large ground floor guest rooms with private entrance, lounge, garden and terrace.

The ideal base for bike rides and trails in Flanders Fields through picturesque villages with the Silent Witnesses of the Great War.

Fancy a city trip? Cities of culture such as Bruges, Kortrijk and Lille are just one hour's drive away.

A top destination for a great weekend getaway

If you are keen on a whiff of history of World War I, you are bound to get your fill during a stay in our B&B. You will be lodging in the middle of Flanders Fields, on the famous Menin Road, with a host who will be delighted to give you a historical explanation of World War I. He outlines a road map along well known and lesser known sites, so you can discover the Silent Testimonies of the Great War on your own. Furthermore, tickets for the Museum Passchendaele 1917 and the Hooge Crater Museum are available from us at reduced prices.

You can enjoy your stay to the full also if you are athletically inclined: Cycle along the renewed cycling network or "wander through the woods with Jaek and Nink" for the kids. If you would rather don your walking shoes, there are various sign-posted walks in and around Zonnebeke.

Do you want to spend a day full of fun? Bellewaerde park is just 1 km away from our B&B. Tickets are available from us at reduced prices. The Aqua Park will open in 2019.
